Abstract

The Upanishad view of the nature of "people pleaser" or people who seek to please other people in society.  The Upanishads are a series of ancient Hindu philosophical texts that present views on life, the purpose of life, and the relationship between humans and the universe.  This article aims to understand the Upanishad view of this social phenomenon and provide insight into how ancient Hindu philosophy views individual motivation and behavior in the context of "people pleaser". A qualitative approach is used to analyze the Upanishad texts that are relevant to this topic.  Various Upanisad texts, such as the Brihadaranyaka Upanisad, Chandogya Upanisad, and Katha Upanisad, were explored to identify ideas related to the "people pleaser" character.  The results of the analysis show that the Upanishads do not directly discuss the concept of "people pleaser" specifically.  However, some of the principles and concepts contained in the Upanishads can provide insight into individual attitudes and behavior in this context.  For example, the Upanishads underline the importance of pursuing a higher purpose in life than simply satisfying other people.  The Upanishads also emphasize the importance of wisdom and self-understanding as a means to attain deeper and lasting happiness.  In the context of "people pleaser", the Upanishad view can be interpreted as inviting individuals to develop a balance between pleasing others and maintaining self-integrity.  The Upanishads encourage the individual not to seek validation or mere satisfaction from others, but to seek inner fulfillment through self-understanding and the attainment of a deeper purpose in life
